Find a certified energy advisor to participate and access rebates
Use our Postal Code Lookup Tool for a list of approved certified energy advisors serving your area.
They'll answer any questions about the Home Efficiency Rebate and can schedule a pre-renovation energy assessment as your next step to participate. When you complete the process, you'll be reimbursed up to $550 for the cost of the assessments.
Follow these 4 steps to get your rebate
We never come uninvited: We never authorize others to perform unsolicited inspections on home equipment, such as furnaces and water heaters, and we never call to promote products and services. Energy assessments for the Home Efficiency Rebate are performed by licensed service organizations only at the request of homeowners.
Before starting any renovations, call a participating certified energy advisor in your area
You can find one using the Postal Code Lookup Tool above. A certified energy advisor is an independent third party who will advise you on upgrades and help you make sure you meet the qualifications for the program.
Have your certified energy advisor complete a pre-renovation energy assessment
The energy advisor will conduct a basement-to-attic assessment of your home’s current energy use and generate a customized report to explain which upgrades can improve your home’s energy efficiency. The pre-renovation assessment takes about two to three hours. When you complete the program, you’ll be reimbursed up to $550 for the cost of the assessments.3
Complete at least TWO of the eligible renovations 2
You can complete the work yourself or hire a contractor to complete your renovations. We recommend you get at least three quotes before selecting a reputable contractor, and that a Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) registered contractor perform any equipment installations.
Contact your certified energy advisor to complete your post-renovation assessment
Your second assessment will take about one to two hours and must be completed within 120 days of your first assessment. This assessment will calculate the new energy efficiency of your home based on the upgrades you completed. Your energy advisor will collect and submit all the necessary paperwork to us. You'll receive your rebate cheque in the mail within 120 days of submission.

1 Some restrictions apply. If you have questions about whether your home qualifies, please contact a certified energy advisor. A home that is demolished and rebuilt between the first and second assessments would not be eligible to participate in the Home Efficiency Rebate.
2 If you are upgrading your natural gas furnace, you must complete at least 2 additional upgrades (a total of 3 upgrades or more) to qualify for the Home Efficiency Rebate.
3 For remote areas, homeowners may incur travel costs in addition to the cost of the assessment or require a phone assessment at a reduced cost and rebate. Please contact a participating Certified Energy Advisor for details.
