Engineering Feasibility Studies and Steam Trap Studies

Incentives engineered to reduce energy costs and payback period

We help fund studies to identify and quantify potential energy-saving measures on natural gas-consuming equipment and gas-related heating systems or facilities. Studies analyze an existing building to determine the changes that will increase your overall energy efficiency.

Typical projects

Thermal surveys, facility air-balances, HVAC audits, energy audits, benchmarking activities and equipment upgrade analyses.

Commercial Customers Incentive

  • 50% up to $4,000**

Industrial Customers Incentives

  • 50% up to $10,000
  • Study top-up
    Additional 50% to a maximum of $10,000*

*For customers with multiple locations, incentive cap at $10,000 per customer.
*Additional incentive for a previously funded Engineering Feasibility Study, once a Custom Engineering Project has been commissioned. For industrial customers only. Limit of one top-up per study.

Application Requirements

Copy of study including:

  • Baseline types and costs of all energy use per process/piece of equipment
  • Analysis of use, waste and potential impact on production
  • In-depth description of improvements to current operational procedures, processes or technology and installation of new equipment
  • Projected/predicted future performance for all energy use after improvements
  • Financial analysis of opportunities sufficient to support customer management review for project approval
Copy of 3rd party survey provider invoice or summary of costs for internal labour used

For multi-site customer incentive cap @ $10,000 per customer.

50 percent of the cost, to a maximum of $6,000.

Application Requirements

Copy of study including:

  • Must be conducted by a third-party service provider.
  • For steam trap replacements, incentives only apply to steam trap replacements subsequent to the third-party survey (survey must have been conducted within last 12 months).
  • Ad-hoc trap repair or replacement does not qualify.
