In most cases, you do not need to be home to start your gas service.
However, if the natural gas service has been turned off, we will need to visit your home to restore the service and to inspect and light your furnace, stove and other natural gas appliances. For more information, please contact us.
Natural gas is by far the most affordable home energy choice. Heating your home and water with gas saves you between $1,600 and $2,000 every year compared to using electricity, oil or propane. And that low price is the same, 24/7 - there's no penalty for cooking food or drying laundry during the weekday.
With the price of electricity expected to increase by 40 per cent over the next five years, choosing clean and affordable natural gas makes more sense - and saves you more money - than ever! Find ways to save money & energy when you use natural gas.
The gas rates we charge to customers are regulated by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), which reviews rates quarterly to ensure they are fair and equitable to consumers. Go to the natural gas rates section of our website to look up current and historical gas rates for your area.
If you still own your original home when you move to your new address, complete a Start Gas Service request for your new address in MyAccount. You will have two gas accounts until your first home is sold.
Stop Gas Service at your original home when you know the date the new occupant will take over the gas service.
A Union Gas representative takes a final meter reading for the previous occupant.
We will open a new Union Gas account for you at your new address.
