Environmental Impact

An ENERGY STAR qualified home not only enhances comfort, improves indoor air quality, lowers utility bills and reduces maintenance costs – it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions and contributes to a growing culture of conservation throughout the province.

Did you know that the average home emits twice as much greenhouse gas as the typical car?

An ENERGY STAR qualified home emits roughly 2-3 tonnes less greenhouse gas than a house built to the current Ontario Building Code – the equivalent of an SUV commuting 25 km a day, 5 days a week.

According to Natural Resources Canada, 17 per cent of the country’s annual energy consumption is gobbled up by our homes.
