ENERGY STAR Appliances
Appliances are long-term investments, so it's smart to consider the lifetime cost of an appliance, not just the purchase price. Some low-cost appliances will cost much more to operate than energy-efficient models.
ENERGY STAR® labels make it easy to compare appliances and make good energy choices.
ENERGY STAR ratings
Some products have ENERGY STAR® rating on the label. They show that the appliance or equipment meets both Canadian government energy-efficiency standards.
ENERGY STAR® : the recognized standard
ENERGY STAR® is the international standard in energy efficiency. You will find it only on appliances and products that have made top grades in rigorous energy-efficiency tests.
- The ENERGY STAR® program sets premium standards for the energy efficiency of many products, including appliances, heating and cooling equipment, and windows and doors.
- To earn the ENERGY STAR® mark, products are independently tested and must meet or exceed the standards. Products must be cost-efficient as well as energy-efficient.
- Go to the ENERGY STAR® website to learn more about buying the most energy-efficiency appliances.
- In Canada, the ENERGY STAR® initiative is administered and promoted by Natural Resources Canada. The ENERGY STAR® mark is registered in Canada by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
