October 2018 Rates
The Ontario Energy Board has approved changes to the rates Union Gas charges its customers effective Oct. 1, 2018. These changes include the removal of the cap-and-trade charges previously included in the delivery line of the bill. The new rates incorporate applicable temporary charges and credits that do not affect the annual impacts listed below.
The total annual bill decrease will be $25.86 for a typical Rate 01—North East customer using 2,200 m³ of natural gas a year.
The table below shows the new, approved rates used to calculate your natural gas bill as of Oct. 1, 2018. The annual impacts, excluding temporary price adjustments, are based on a typical Rate 01—North East customer using 2,200 m3 of natural gas a year.

The gas commodity rate increased by 0.8711 ¢/m³ to 13.4702 ¢/m³ based on our forecast of natural gas market prices for the next 12 months. This rate includes transportation costs to Ontario.
Gas price adjustment
The gas price adjustment rate increased by 1.4840 ¢/m³ to 1.7921 ¢/m³ to make up the difference between our forecast cost of natural gas and actual costs from prior periods.
Transportation to Union Gas
The transportation to Union Gas rate increased by 0.0064 ¢/m³ to 2.7516 ¢/m³ to reflect the increased cost of transporting natural gas.
Transportation price adjustment
The transportation price adjustment rate decreased by 0.2246 ¢/m³ to -0.1328 ¢/m³ to make up the difference between our forecast cost of transporting natural gas and actual costs from prior periods.
The storage rate increased by 0.0023 ¢/m³ to 6.3909 ¢/m³ to reflect the increased cost of storing natural gas.
The delivery rates that vary with consumption have decreased. Cap-and-trade charges previously included in the delivery line have been removed effective Oct. 1, 2018.

Delivery price adjustment
The delivery price adjustment rate increased by 0.3199 ¢/m³ to 0.3843 ¢/m³. This adjustment makes up the difference between our forecast cost of delivering natural gas and actual costs from prior periods. It also includes interim costs and credits related to the provincial cap-and trade program.
