January 2020 Rates
The Ontario Energy Board has approved changes to the rates Enbridge Gas Inc. charges its customers effective Jan. 1, 2020. The new rates incorporate applicable temporary credits that do not affect the annual impacts listed below.
The total annual bill increase will be $19.55 for a typical Rate 01 - Union North East customer using 2,200 m³ of natural gas a year.

The gas commodity rate increased by 0.4313 ¢/m³ to 12.0136 ¢/m³ based on our forecast of natural gas market prices for the next 12 months. This rate includes transportation costs to Ontario.
Gas price adjustment
The gas price adjustment rate decreased by 0.4826 ¢/m³ to 1.9403 ¢/m³ to make up the difference between our forecast cost of natural gas and actual costs from prior periods.
The transportation rate increased by 0.0051 ¢/m³ to 2.0844 ¢/m³ to reflect the increased cost of transporting natural gas.
Transportation price adjustment
The transportation price adjustment rate increased by 0.6762 ¢/m³ to -0.8279 ¢/m³ to make up the difference between our forecast cost of transporting natural gas and actual costs from prior periods.
The storage rate decreased by 0.0304 ¢/m³ to 5.0178 ¢/m³ to reflect the decreased cost of storing natural gas.
Storage Price Adjustment
The storage price adjustment rate increased by 0.1466 ¢/m³ to 0.0000 ¢/m³ to make up the difference between our forecast cost of storing natural gas and actual costs from prior periods.
The delivery rates that vary with consumption increased based on our forecast cost of delivering natural gas to your home or business. These rates also include a facility carbon charge associated with the operation of Enbridge Gas’ facilities to deliver natural gas to you.
Delivery price adjustment
The delivery price adjustment rate increased by 0.5473 ¢/m³ to 0.0000 ¢/m³ to make up the difference between the amount customers paid and the final actual costs from prior periods.
The monthly charge increased by $0.28 to $22.50 a month to partially recover some of the fixed costs associated with maintaining a safe and reliable natural gas distribution system.
Federal carbon charge
The federal carbon charge is 3.9100 ¢/m³. This charge will increase annually each April. All of the money collected for this charge goes to the federal government.
