Range Energy Efficiency

Energy-saving features to look for

  • Electronic ignition with an electronic spark at each burner. You'll use 30 to 40 per cent less fuel compared to a continually burning pilot.
  • Level of insulation (the higher the better).
  • Self-cleaning oven.
  • An infrared broiler cooks foods faster - the quicker an oven cooks, the more energy you'll save.

Tips to save even more

  • Resist the urge to open the oven door more than needed - heat escapes quickly and takes energy to replace.
  • Match the pot to the right sized burner – too small a pot on a big burner wastes energy.
  • Time your oven to reach the right temperature just as you’re ready, so you don’t pre-heat longer than necessary.
  • Use the self-cleaning mode right after using the oven for baking so the heat that is already in the oven won’t go to waste.
