Communities thrive with natural gas

Access to affordable natural gas lowers heating costs for families, creates jobs and makes businesses more competitive.

Enbridge is helping to deliver a new Ontario government program to enable natural gas expansion in more Ontario communities

Through this new program, nine natural gas expansion projects serving rural, remote and Indigenous communities in Ontario will be undertaken over the next two years, stimulating Ontario’s economy and creating jobs.

  • Starting July 1, 2019, a $1 community expansion charge will be added to the fixed monthly charge.
  • All funds that are collected through this community expansion charge will be forwarded to the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), which is administering the program funding.
  • Additional funding for these expansion projects is being provided by these communities through a system expansion surcharge and a municipal or First Nation contribution.

Check first before you dig into summer projects

Are you planning a new project like a fence, patio, pool or garden? Before you dig, be sure to contact Ontario One Call at least five business days before you dig to have utility lines on your property located and marked.

It’s against the law to dig without having utility lines located. Digging could damage natural gas pipes, telephone lines, hydro lines, cable TV lines or water pipes which may be located near the surface of your property. Damaging any of these can create a dangerous situation.

Contact Ontario One Call before you dig

You can contact Ontario One Call any time, day or night. The service is free. Professionals will locate the public utility lines on your property in a timely manner, so you can complete your project safely.
