"At Union Gas, we're dedicated to the environment and to conservation programs," said Marc Tonelli, utility services manager for Sudbury, Union Gas. "That's why we're proud to continue our support of Conservation Sudbury and the great work done by the Friends of Lake Laurentian to make the trail system safer and more accessible, so the community can access this beautiful area."

The Nickel District Conservation Foundation endeavours to support the activities and educational programs undertaken by Conservation Sudbury at the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area. With the assistance of its grass-roots volunteer corps known as the Friends of Lake Laurentian, important partnerships are fostered and improvements to the trail system are realized. This results in an improved experience for all Greater Sudbury residents and visitors who take advantage of the free-use 950 hectare property that boasts a 60 km network of trails.

"This generous donation from Union Gas helps to strengthen our longstanding partnership. Safe trails with reliable high-quality way-finding signs add to the positive experience for all of our visitors and is important for our volunteers, the Friends of Lake Laurentian, and for Union Gas," said Peter Edmunds, chairperson, Nickel District Conservation Foundation. "Working together we are better equipped to keep our community informed and safe."
