Union Gas Bringing Affordable Natural Gas To Prince Township In 2018
Community will benefit from much-needed energy savings
CHATHAM, ON, Oct. 12, 2017 - Union Gas has received approval from the Ontario Energy Board ("OEB") to construct a $2.7MM natural gas infrastructure project to serve Prince Township in 2018.
"This project has achieved approval through hard work on the part of the Mayor and Council, and so many members of the Prince Township community," said Chris Minor, district manager for Northeastern Ontario at Union Gas. "With approval from the Ontario Energy Board, we can begin planning construction to start in early 2018."
There are plenty of reasons to make the switch to natural gas. Residents who heat their home and water with natural gas can save up to $1,500 on average every year, compared to using electricity, oil or propane. In addition, with a constant supply and unparalleled reliability, the natural gas system is available year-round with no fill-ups needed, even in the harshest winter months.
"We're very excited about the news that natural gas service is coming to Prince Township," said Ken Lamming, Mayor of Prince Township. "For homes and businesses in our community, this is a great opportunity to save on energy costs."
Union Gas has been delivering clean and affordable natural gas to homes and businesses throughout Ontario safely and reliably for over 100 years, and will apply all of its expertise and experience towards this project.
From north to south, from large to small, Ontario's communities need affordable, reliable energy that helps them grow and supports great quality of life. That's why Union Gas has been working for the past five years to make access to natural gas a reality for more rural, remote and Indigenous communities.
