Union Gas Supports Elliot Lake Volunteer Firefighters Association With $1,500 to Purchase Training Material

Elliot Lake, ON, November 20, 2017 - Union Gas supports Elliot Lake Volunteer Firefighters Association and Elliot Lake Fire Department with $1,500 grant to purchase updated training material.

"At Union Gas, safety governs everything we do, whether we are building a pipeline or installing a gas meter at your home," said Brent Belec, utility services manager, Union Gas. "Because of our safety culture, we make it a priority to support our local volunteer firefighters, helping to ensure their safety as they serve the community."

The Elliot Lake Fire Department is made up of approximately 12 volunteer firefighters. The department relies heavily on the volunteers and their ability to respond to a variety of emergency situations. The investment in updated training and materials for the volunteers will help ensure their safety and the safety of the community.

Training and awareness, related to the safe handling of natural gas, is important for the fire department and for Union Gas," said John Thomas, director of protective services, Elliot Lake Fire Department. "Working together we are better equipped to keep our community informed and safe."
