"We're proud to support the commitment that United Way Waterloo Region Communities has in this community," said Murray Costello, district manager Waterloo/Brantford, Union Gas. "We share that commitment at Union Gas and we work hard to be good neighbours in more than 400 communities we serve across Ontario."

The company's United Way theme, "We Give Today, To Improve Tomorrow," reflects the heart of the campaign, and it also reflects employees' spirit of giving. Numerous fundraising events led by employees were held throughout the year to raise money. Union Gas matches each individual employee and retiree donation dollar for dollar, and those matching dollars will go to the local United Way.

"Every day more than 50 thousand families, individuals and children deal with the gnawing power of poverty in Waterloo Region" said Joan Fisk, ceo United Way Waterloo Region Communities. "Thanks to the generosity of Union Gas and its employees, we are able to chip away at that power…providing the building blocks people need to fully participate in everything our community has to offer."

Funds will go to support United Way Waterloo Region Communities funded agencies and programs that address the needs of the community they service with the mission to improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.
