"At Union Gas, safety governs everything we do, whether we are building a pipeline or installing a gas meter at your home," said Michelle Rogers, utility services construction manager, Union Gas. "Because of our safety culture, we make it a priority to support our local firefighters, helping to ensure their safety as they serve the community."

The Gananoque Fire Service is a composite Fire Service made up of four full-time and 26 volunteers. The Union Gas grant will assist with the purchase of the H&R Machine Forcible Entry Prop, which will provide the department with the invaluable training needed to enable firefighters to gain access not only for fire suppression but also assist in timely rescue of people possibly trapped.

"This generous donation from Union Gas will assist greatly in allowing our firefighters and firefighters from our neighbouring communities to develop the skills needed for firefighter and public safety," said Steve Tiernan, fire chief, Town of Gananoque. "Working together we are better equipped to keep our community safe."
