Union Gas' commitment is realized by an investment of $2,500 in the Limestone Learning Foundation towards funding school projects in the area of technology.  "Building Minds through LEGO Mindstorms" is one such project that will provide elementary students at Granite Ridge Education Centre with increased access to robotics, computer programming, coding, and peer tutoring.

"No matter what career path a student today might choose, computer science and coding will be a part of it," states Katherine Leverette, retired teacher and chair of the Limestone Learning Foundation. "Educators and experts are calling it the 'new literacy'—a subject so important that every child needs to know the basics to excel in our rapidly changing world," adds Leverette. "Working together with Union Gas students in grades 5 to 8 will have the latest LEGO Mindstorm kits to design, build and explore how robotics can be used to improve lives. We thank our partners at Union Gas for their commitment to innovation."
