Union Gas Supports Greater Napanee Emergency Services With $1,000 For Specialized Ice/Water Training

Napanee, ON, December 13, 2017 - Union Gas supports Greater Napanee Emergency Services with a $1,000 grant to assist Greater Napanee Firefighters with Ice/Water training.

Michelle Rogers, utility services construction manager, Union Gas, presented the grant to John Koenig, acting fire chief, and other member of the Greater Napanee Emergency Services

"We make it a priority to support important and much-needed training programs like Greater Napanee Emergency Services Ice/Water Program" said Michelle Rogers, utility services construction manager, Union Gas. "At Union Gas, safety is a top priority, and we are committed to keeping ourselves, our teams and our communities safe."

The Town of Greater Napanee Emergency Services is made up of approximately 70 fulltime and volunteer professional firefighters who strive to provide residents with the education, prevention activities and emergency response capabilities necessary to keep them and their property safe. Due to the expansive amount of waterfront in the community, Ice/Water rescue is one of the specialized services that is provided by the department for the safety of residents.

"This donation from Union Gas helps to strengthen the bonds between our community and a generous corporate partner. Ice/Water rescue is a very physically and challenging specialized type of rescue," said John Koenig, acting fire chief, Greater Napanee Emergency Services. "Without the proper equipment and training no department can safely attempt this type of rescue."
