"We make it a priority to support important and much-needed safety programs," said Ed Gouweloos, utility services construction manager, Union Gas. "At Union Gas, safety is a top priority, and we are committed to keeping ourselves, our teams and our communities safe."

The Cobourg Fire Department is a composite department consisting of a fire chief, a deputy chief, a chief fire prevention officer, an emergency planner, 12 full-time firefighters, 16 volunteer firefighters and one administrative assistant. The department has a very proactive Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm Program that was implemented to assist with protecting the citizens of Cobourg.  The department will also purchase red plastic fire helmets as part of their Public Education Program to give to children at public education events.  Each child leaves with a helmet and important fire safety knowledge.

"The Cobourg Fire Department is both honored and extremely thankful to be receiving yet another generous donation from Union Gas.  Their continuous support of our Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm Program is greatly appreciated by all members of our department", said Aaron Blair, chief fire prevention officer. "We are very lucky to enjoy such a great partnership with Union Gas. When we conduct our home visits, we don't have to worry about having to leave a home unprotected."
