The Ontario Fire Code requires carbon monoxide (CO) alarms to be installed in every home and residential buildings where a fuel-fired appliance or an attached garage exists.  The Halton Hills Fire Department’s Carbon Monoxide Awareness Program and Home Safe Home Fire Safety Program educates citizens on the requirements, proper installation and maintenance of CO alarms.  The $2500 grant will be used to purchase additional educational materials and CO alarms to continue these valuable programs.

"Smoke and CO alarms are critical life safety devices that are required in every residential home.  We are very fortunate to have a partnership with Union Gas." said Halton Hills Councillor and Chair of the Fire Services and Emergency Planning Committee, Bryan Lewis.  "This donation will be used in our 2016 Carbon Monoxide Awareness campaign.  On behalf of Mayor Bonnette and Members of Council we extend our sincere gratitude to Union Gas for the generous gift and their support in making Halton Hills a safer community."
