Union Gas Helps Cochrane District Social Services EMS Buy Safety Equipment With $3,500 Grant
Timmins, ON, November 25, 2016 - Union Gas is helping Cochrane District Social Services protect the safety of their Emergency Medical Services employees with a $3,500 grant for carbon monoxide (CO) detectors to use during emergency calls.
"At Union Gas, safety governs everything we do, whether we are building a pipeline or installing a gas meter at your home" said Gerry Gravel, utility service construction manager, Union Gas. "Because of our safety culture, we make it a priority to support our local safety personnel, helping to ensure their safety as they serve the community."
Paramedics in the Cochrane District respond to over 9,000 calls for help a year, which involves entering many residences and workplaces. Having CO detectors available to front line EMS crews will provide them with an instant alert should it be a CO related issue.
"This fantastic initiative from Union Gas will help to keep our paramedics safe. Companies that embrace the power of collaboration can achieve great results," said Luc Hurtubise, operations commander, Cochrane District EMS. "We thank Union Gas for providing us with a tool to enhance our paramedic's wellbeing."
