Union Gas Partners With Limestone Learning Foundation To Support Creative Learning Opportunities Through a $2,500 Grant
Amherstview, ON, November 17, 2016 - Union Gas is partnering with Limestone Learning Foundation to support creative learning opportunities, through a $2,500 grant.
"At Union Gas we believe that investing in the future of our youth is an investment worth making," said Michelle Rogers, utility services construction manager, Union Gas. "We're thrilled to support important educational programs in the communities we serve."
Centreville Public School will receive $2,000 for their "Connecting with Little Bits" project, to expand an existing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) initiative. Grade 3 and 4 students work through design challenges. Students creatively problem solve in order to build projects with cardboard, duct tape and other consumables.

Kingston Collegiate Vocational Institute's "Lake Effect Robotics" team will receive $500 to participate in the FIRST Robotics Challenge. The FIRST culture brings students together with community, industry and academic mentors to participate in this unique sporting competition of the mind. The competition is designed to help high school students discover the interests and rewards of engineering and science through building a robot within a short 6-week time frame and within budget and technical specifications.
"These enhanced creative learning opportunities would not otherwise exist without the generous supportive community partners like Union Gas," said Leslie Myles, managing director, Limestone Learning Foundation. "This support is vital to the success of these innovative projects and represents a valuable investment in the future of our students, and ultimately, in our community."
