Spectra Energy Selects 2016 Scholarship Recipients

Five Students of Union Gas Employees to Receive Up to $20,000 toward Undergraduate Studies

Chatham, ON, June 22, 2016 - Union Gas parent company Spectra Energy Corp (NYSE: SE) has announced that five children of Union Gas employees have been selected to receive up to $5,000 per year in scholarship funds toward undergraduate study at an accredited college or university in the U.S. or Canada.Brittany McLaren and Carys Owen of Chatham ON, Samantha Brownlee of North Bay, ON, Chukwuebuka Moneme of Waterloo, ON and Jordan Sharpe of Hanover, ON

Recipients under the Spectra Energy Scholars Program are graduating high school/secondary school seniors and are chosen annually by an independent committee of judges. The committee selects recipients based on their performance in academics, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honours and awards, work experience and financial need. The scholarships will provide the students up to $20,000 during their four years of undergraduate study.

One additional student was recognized for their achievements and will receive a one-time, $2,500 scholarship.

Jordan Sharpe of Hanover, ON - A student at John Diefenbaker Senior School and the daughter of Scott Sharpe and Tracy Napper-Sharpe


Samantha Brownlee of North Bay, ON - A student at St. Joseph Scollard Hall and the daughter of Kathy Brownlee
