Union Gas Supports Bonfield Volunteer Fire Department With $2,500 Grant For Purchase Of Safety Equipment
Bonfield, ON, June 14, 2016 - Union Gas supports the Township of Bonfield with a $2,500 grant to Bonfield Volunteer Fire Department for the purchase of personal protection equipment to help ensure the safety of volunteer firefighters.
"At Union Gas, safety governs everything we do, whether we are building a pipeline or installing a gas meter at your home," said Darcy Watson, utility services manager, Union Gas. "Because of our safety culture, we make it a priority to support our local volunteer firefighters, helping to ensure their safety as they serve the community."
The Township of Bonfield Fire Department is made up of 19 volunteer firefighters and equipping them with up to date, modern personal protection is important for their safety and well-being. Personal protection equipment (PPE) includes bunker gear, boots, gloves, balaclavas and high visibility clothing.
"This generous donation from Union Gas and training related to the safe handling of natural gas is important to enable us to work as a team to keep our community safe," says Thomas Raymond, fire chief of Bonfield Fire Department.
