"Our culture of giving ensures United Way can continue to make critical investments with hundreds of organizations that help people every single day in Burlington and Greater Hamilton area," Egbedeyi-Emmanuel added.
The company's United Way 2016 theme, "We Give Today, To Improve Tomorrow," captured the ultimate goal of the campaign, but it also captured employees' spirit of giving.
Numerous fundraising events led by employees were held throughout the year to raise money for United Way, which provides vital services in the community and across the province.
"Employees enjoy these events. They are fun, but they are also raising money for an organization that is essential in the province when it comes to helping those who need assistance," said Egbedeyi-Emmanuel.
Spectra Energy, Union Gas' parent company, matches each individual donation dollar for dollar, and those matching dollars go to local United Ways.
"Union Gas has been a dedicated supporter of United Way, both on a local and provincial scale for many years," said Jeff Vallentin, ceo, United Way of Burlington & Greater Hamilton. "They have worked tirelessly to raise funds to ensure the people in their local communities have the crucial supports they need to thrive. It is because of organizations like Union Gas that we are able to continue to do the great work we do."
