Kingston, on, December 8, 2016 - Union Gas employees and retirees showed their generous nature once again by raising a record $42,616 for United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennex & Addington (KFLA) in 2016.
"Union Gas has a legacy of giving, a legacy which makes the communities we serve in Ontario stronger and healthier," said Danny Watson, district manager Eastern, Union Gas.

"Our culture of giving ensures United Way can continue to make critical investments with hundreds of organizations that help people every single day," Watson added.
The company's United Way 2016 theme, "We Give Today, To Improve Tomorrow," captured the ultimate goal of the campaign, but it also captured employees' spirit of giving.
Numerous fundraising events led by employees were held throughout the year to raise money for United Way, which provides vital services in the community and across the province.
"Employees enjoy these events. They are fun, but they are also raising money for an organization that is essential in the province when it comes to helping those who need assistance," said Watson.
Spectra Energy, Union Gas' parent company, matches each individual donation dollar for dollar, and those matching dollars go to local United Ways.
"Congratulations to Union Gas on their record-breaking campaign this year. Union Gas has been a long standing supporter of United Way in many communities, and we are very grateful for their leadership and support in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington," said Bhavana Varma, president and ceo, United Way KFLA. "Thanks to their generous support, Union Gas and its employees are helping 75,000 people live with hope, dignity, and a sense of belonging. Thank you for your continued support of our community through the United Way!"
Funds will go to support United Way KFLA funded agencies and programs that address the needs of the community they service with the mission to improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.
