How It Works
Condensing boilers use a fuel source, such as natural gas, to heat water for space or water heating. During this process, heat is extracted from exhausted flue gases. This lowers the temperature of the flue gases below 60°C. As a result, the gases condense to liquid form, which releases latent heat that can be captured and used to reheat the return water.
It's the re-use of latent heat, which otherwise would be exhausted with a conventional boiler, that saves energy and improves efficiency
To make sure a condensing boiler will be the right fit for your building, consult an HVAC or engineering consultant who can evaluate suitability, savings, and how to improve your heating system for ideal condensing conditions.
To ensure your condensing boiler is operating at optimal efficiency, ask your installer to determine maintenance guidelines for your building requirements. It is important to make sure your facilities personnel are properly trained for routine maintenance, as well as scheduling a tune-up every two years from your service provider.
