Boiler Fuel Cost Consumption Calculator
Fuel Cost Comparison - Oil vs. Gas
The following tables are used to calculate values based on what is put in the boxes. The values will recalculate in different units of measure. The first two tables are to calculate competitive fuel costs between #6 fuel oil and natural gas. The third table is to calculate efficiency
Reasonable defaults have been chosen as a starting point.
For a given #6 oil price, calculate competitive gas price
The following table is used to show the value of natural gas for the same energy output when the price for #6 oil is known.
For a given gas price, calculate competitive #6 oil price
This table is used to show the value of #6 oil for the same energy output when the price for natural gas is known.
Default values for thermal and parasitic losses
The third table is to show the losses in regards to different boiler types and processes to establish efficiency between fuel types. The data presented here is based on boiler tests conducted by Union Gas and Prof Eckerlin of NCSU.
