Smell rotten eggs? It could be a gas leak.

You can’t see or taste natural gas, so we made sure you can smell it. Mercaptan, a harmless gas, is added to natural gas so it smells like rotten eggs. If a gas leak occurs, here’s how to keep your business and employees safe:

number one

Evacuate immediately.

number two

Call Union Gas at 1-877-969-0999 or 911 from a safe distance.

number three

Don’t use electrical switches, appliances, phones, garage door openers, vehicles or lighters and don’t smoke.

Know your alarms

Smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms won’t detect a natural gas leak. Only a natural gas alarm or combined natural gas/CO alarm will detect a leak.
