Clearing snow and ice helps ensure that the meter will work safely and efficiently, along with providing access for meter readings or emergency repairs.

  • Gently brush off snow or ice with a soft broom or brush.
  • Never use an ice scraper or other sharp tool.
  • Do not bump your meter with a snowblower.

Also keep space clear around indoor heating equipment such as your furnace, water heater and thermostat.
