Customer Type

  • Rate T1 is designed for our mid-sized customers in Southern Ontario. They have stable and consistent daily gas consumption profiles with combined firm and interruptible consumption of at least 2.5 million m3/year and a firm Contract Demand (CD) up to 140,870 m3/day.
  • These customers use natural gas for process applications and as a feedstock. Examples of Rate T1 customers include general manufacturing plants, food and beverage plants, greenhouses, institutions, large hospitals, and district heating plants.
  • A customer may combine multiple facilities within the Union Gas service area to meet the minimum Contract Demand threshold.

Benefits

  • A single contract makes it easy for a customer to manage and meet their daily supply, delivery and balancing requirements.
  • Delivery and consumption imbalances are automatically allocated to the storage account every day by Union Gas.
  • Customer's self-sourced gas supply arrangements are simplified.
    • Firm daily supply requirement is calculated by dividing the total annual forecasted consumption by 365 days.
  • Firm delivery service can be supplemented with an interruptible delivery service component.
  • Access to online nominations, transactions, and reports 24 x 7 through Unionline - anywhere with internet and/or mobile access.
  • Access to daily metering to help monitor and manage gas use.
  • Energy measuring equipment is used to confirm the heat content value of the natural gas delivered to the facility.
  • Access to a variety of transactional services provide additional flexibility and may let customers get more out of market opportunities with these supply, transportation and balancing options.
  • Many Union Gas contract customers buy and sell natural gas at Dawn. Located close to market, it is home to the largest underground natural gas storage facility in the country. With over 100 companies actively buying and selling gas at Dawn, this hub is one of the top three natural gas marketplaces in North America.

Service Term

  • Minimum one-year contract.
  • A longer term commitment may be required for the initial contract should an upfront capital investment by Union Gas be necessary.

Rates and Pricing
