Rate 20

A natural gas distribution service for medium gas volume, process customers that is a firm delivery service. The distribution service can be matched with a range of supply and transportation sourcing options that could include Dawn and that provide greater flexibility for managing a customer's end use facility consumption.

The service is designed for medium gas volume customers in Northwestern, Northeastern and Eastern Ontario. Customers have a stable natural gas consumption profile. They also have a minimum firm or a combined firm and interruptible Contract Demand (CD) in excess of 14,000 m³ per day.
Rate 20 customers use natural gas for process applications. Examples of Rate 20 customers include manufacturing, mining, pulp and paper, power generation and steel plants as well as hospitals, colleges and universities with larger heating requirements.

Rate 20 customers can choose to arrange and manage a combination of supply, upstream transportation and storage options that require differing levels of "hands-on" management.These options include:
- Sales Service - Union Gas manages all service elements. Customer purchases a full, firm, no-nomination service at an "all in" price (natural gas commodity, transmission and local delivery of gas to customer's facility).
- Bundled Transportation Service (BT Service) - Customer sources and nominates upstream gas supply, Union Gas manages transmission and local delivery of gas to the customer's facility.
- Transportation Service (T-Service) - Customer sources, manages and nominates upstream gas supply and transportation. Union Gas manages local delivery.
Rate 20 Sales Service, BT, and T-Service can be combined with a Rate 25 interruptible service. In addition, Rate 20 T-Service also includes a Customer Balancing Service (CBS) and that can be combined with a Union Gas storage service. This allows a customer to correct the daily imbalances that occur when gas deliveries do not match a facility's consumption.
Access to on-line nominations, transactions and reports 24 x 7 through Unionline - anywhere with internet and/or mobile access.
Access to daily metering to help monitor and manage gas use.
Access to a variety of transactional services provide additional flexibility and may let customers get more out of market opportunities with these supply, transportation and balancing options.

Minimum one-year contract.
A longer term commitment may be required for the initial contract should an upfront capital investment by Union Gas be necessary.

Rate 20 is cost-based and subject to Ontario Energy Board (OEB) oversight, meaning any changes to the rates and pricing are subject to OEB approval.
