Are you looking to balance uneven consumption with delivers of
gas supplies arriving at Dawn?
UPBS is an enhancement to an existing storage service that enables
Shippers to balance rateable (evenly) flows arriving at Dawn (includes
purchased gas supplies, withdrawals from storage, or gas arriving from
upstream pipelines) with non-rateable downstream consumption
requirements.
UPBS allows Shippers to specify the hours of injection and/or
withdrawal and ensure that their gas supplies closely match their
consumption requirements, on an hour by hour basis. The use of UPBS
allows Shippers to minimize downstream balancing costs.

Service
Highlights |
- This intraday service transforms the
firm injections and/or firm withdrawal parameters into non-rateable
injections and withdrawals. Shipper submits an hourly
profile which specifies the injections and/or withdrawals
for each hour.
- Quantity of gas injected or withdrawn
in any hour cannot exceed the total daily contracted
quantity divided by 20
- Example - Daily firm withdrawal
demand = 50,000 GJ/d,
- Hourly contract withdrawal
demand is 2,500 GJ/h
- Quantity of gas injected or withdrawn
over entire gas day cannot exceed total daily contracted
quantity
- Example - Daily firm withdrawal
demand = 50,000 GJ/d
- Sum of injections/withdrawals
cannot exceed 50,000 GJ/d
- Shipper may nominate UPBS on a firm
basis on the timely nomination window and on an
interruptible basis on each of the next 3 NAESB nomination
windows. If Shipper contracts for
F24-S, Shipper has
access to all 13 nomination windows and the service is firm
on each nomination window
- Overrun of UPBS (and underlying storage contract) may be
provided. Any overrun of an hourly quantity will be
considered as overrun for the entire gas day.
