Union Gas Announces Non-Binding Open Season for Transportation Services to Connect Marcellus Shale Gas to the Dawn HUB
February 10, 2010
Union Gas Limited is conducting a non-binding open season to determine market interest in Kirkwall to Dawn transportation service and a new enhanced M12 transportation service offering receipt and delivery point flexibility. Union Gas plans to offer these services beginning as early as September 1, 2011.
These new services will facilitate Shippers’ ability to connect new supplies in the Marcellus area with the Dawn Hub. Union Gas is offering a firm westerly Kirkwall to Dawn transportation service to Shippers who deliver gas to Union at Kirkwall on the Union Gas system that want access to the Dawn Hub. In addition, Union Gas is also offering a new enhanced transportation service that allows Shippers the flexibility to transport gas on a firm bi-directional basis between Kirkwall, Parkway and Dawn. The rates for these two new services are subject to Ontario Energy Board approval.
"These new services will facilitate Shippers ability to connect new supplies in the Marcellus Shale producing region with the storage capacity and liquidity of the Dawn Hub. The new transportation services offer enhanced flexibility by allowing Shippers access to the Dawn Hub and the ability to deliver gas to all downstream consuming markets in Ontario, Quebec or the U.S. Northeast," said Steve Baker, vice president, business development, Union Gas. "Attracting Marcellus gas production to the Dawn Hub will further enhance its market depth and overall liquidity."
To facilitate these services, Union Gas plans to modify its existing Kirkwall meter station to support natural gas receipts of up to 1.5 billion cubic feet per day.
The open season closes on March 9, 2010. For additional information, visit uniongas.com/openseason, contact your sales representative or Tina Hodgson, Union Gas Limited, (519) 436-4606 or thodgson@uniongas.com.
