Natural Gas Furnaces - Installation

Proper installation is essential and can only be performed by highly trained specialists.
Finding the right contractor to professionally install your new furnace
A Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) contractor is the professional to call for furnace installation. They will provide you with an estimate and other necessary information such as a quote. They may also do the installation if you purchased from another source - check first to make sure that this will not affect the warranty.
Finding a reputable contractor takes some research but is worthwhile.
One excellent source of reputable HVAC contractors is through the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institution of Canada at www.hrai.ca. HRAI requires its members to carry relevant trade, fuel safety and municipal licenses as well as workers’ compensation. A contractor’s membership in HRAI tells you that the company is properly licensed and that they are committed to continuous improvement through education and training.

FACT: In Ontario, qualified HVAC contractors must be licensed and registered with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA). Visit the TSSA web-site. |
Questions to ask a potential contractor:
When you have selected your contractor insist on a signed, written and accurate contract. Be sure you read and understand the contract before signing it. Your contract should include job start and completion date, number of people assigned to installation job, payment policy, warranty details on parts and labour as well as a guaranteed price including parts, labour and taxes.
