Dig Safe Month
The Ontario Regional Common Ground Alliance (ORCGA) has declared April 2010 the first annual Dig Safe Month in Ontario. The ORCGA promotes efficient and effective damage prevention for Ontario’s vital underground infrastructure.
Working together for a safer Ontario
Dig Safe Month promotes safe digging practices in Ontario by educating the public about the risks and consequences of unsafe digging. Through a number of exciting and informative events being held across Ontario this April, the ORCGA invites participants to raise their digging safety awareness and have fun while working together for a safer Ontario!
Visit digsafe.ca for a full list of events and shows.

Why it’s important to call before you dig
Homeowners often forego getting their utility lines marked, however, every digging job requires a utility line locate - even small projects like planting trees and shrubs! Digging or excavating can easily damage the network of gas pipes, cables and wires that extend under your property. In addition to the safety hazards digging can cause, potential damage could disrupt utility service to an entire neighbourhood.
For these reasons, it’s important to contact Ontario One Call at least one week before you dig. Ontario One Call will send someone to mark your property’s underground utility lines for free and subsequently, help prevent undesired consequences.
Call Ontario One Call for a free natural gas pipe location service at 1 800 400-2255 or visit on1call.com for more information.
