UNION GAS LOWERS RATES FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE QUARTER
Customers to save a further 15-20 percent on their annual bill
CHATHAM, ONT – Union Gas today announced another significant decrease in the rates its customers will pay for natural gas beginning July 1. Residential customers* who buy gas from the utility can expect a further 15-20 percent decrease in their annual natural gas bill. This marks the third time this year that Union Gas has reduced rates, which amounts to a total decrease of almost 40 percent (or about $520) since the end of 2008.
"It’s good news for customers that natural gas rates are at their lowest level in almost ten years,” said Steve Baker, vice president, Union Gas. “Natural gas is a competitive energy choice, is environmentally friendly, and continues to cost significantly less than electricity or fuel oil for space and water heating.”
Along with lower rates, Union Gas customers can realize even greater savings by taking steps to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. Energy conservation is an investment that offers savings and environmental benefits that continue year-after-year. More information, as well as conservation tips and tools, are available on the company’s website at www.uniongas.com/energyefficiency.
