BINDING OPEN SEASON FOR STORAGE SERVICES TO MEET GROWING DEMAND

Union Gas to construct up to 230,000 GJ/d of incremental storage deliverability at the Dawn natural gas storage facility in southwestern Ontario.

CHATHAM, Ontario -- Beginning today, Union Gas Limited will conduct a binding open season for high deliverability storage and short notice balancing services at its Dawn Hub storage facility effective November, 2010.  Union Gas is seeking customer commitments to support the construction of up to 230,000 GJ/day of new incremental storage deliverability at its Dawn Hub.

Shippers seeking access to high deliverability storage for peaking service needs or to satisfy short notice storage balancing requirements are encouraged to participate in the storage open season.  The storage services available include: 1) High Deliverability Storage which offers shippers a five- or ten-day storage service with firm year-round injections and withdrawals, and no storage inventory level requirements (no ratchets); 2) Upstream Pipeline Balancing Service, which gives shippers the ability to schedule deliveries at Dawn to meet their consumption needs, 3) Downstream Pipeline Balancing Service, which gives shippers the ability to schedule deliveries at Parkway or Kirkwall to meet their consumption needs; and 4) F24-S, an enhancement to existing and new storage contracts, which provides firm all day access to existing storage injection and withdrawal rights on 13 nomination windows. Union Gas’ in-franchise distribution customers seeking a delivery service tailored to high daily or seasonal injection/withdrawal requirements are also encouraged to participate in the storage deliverability open season.

"Union Gas' high deliverability storage, balancing and power services offer our customers unparalleled flexibility to meet their requirements," said Steve Baker, Vice-President Business Development, Union Gas.  "Our ability to support these additional investments is a direct result of the storage forbearance decision issued by the Ontario Energy Board in 2006."

Union Gas currently owns and operates the Dawn storage facility -- the largest underground natural gas storage facility in Canada, and one of the largest in North America.
