Union Gas’ Commitment to Aboriginal Communities in Ontario:
Union Gas Donates Money and Work Gloves to the Summer Student Project at the Walpole Island Heritage Centre
As a proud aboriginal community sponsor, Union Gas is committed to the betterment of First Nations communities across Ontario. Most recently, we joined forces with the Walpole Island Heritage Centre, donating $5000 and work gloves for a summer student project at the Centre.
“The Bkejwanong Eco-Keepers youth stewardship program is a summer employment program that provides work experience and trains youth of Walpole Island First Nation in a variety of different sectors of the environmental field, while also teaching them local and traditional Aboriginal knowledge and principles. The generous support from Union Gas will be used to help cover a portion of the students’ wages, purchase equipment, and develop and implement a sustainability strategy for the program,” says Aimee Johnson, Stewardship Coordinator at the Walpole Island Heritage Centre.
