Union Gas’ Commitment to Aboriginal Communities in Ontario:
Union Gas Donates a Dozen Computers to the Long Lake First Nation Elementary School Youth Centre
Late in 2007, Long Lake First Nation Elementary School was struck by lightening causing a power surge which destroyed all of the computers used in the youth centre for computer training and after hour’s homework programs.
After hearing of the loss, Gaston Proteau, Utility Services Team Lead, Geraldton contacted them and offered to replace the computers with computers donated from the Spectra Energy Community Investment program. 12 computers, monitors, keyboards and mice were delivered to Gaston, who then coordinated the computer donation to Bob Misner, Director of Education for the local elementary schools.
Students and facility were excited about re-establishing the after-hours programs and using the computers for school work.
