Union Gas is committed to building long-term productive relationships with members of the Aboriginal community based on mutual respect and economic opportunity. As the largest Ontario-based subsidiary of Spectra Energy, Union Gas is responsible for the company's Aboriginal development activities in the province.

Union Gas seeks to identify business development opportunities that assist Aboriginal communities by creating jobs, introducing training opportunities, or addressing the social or economic needs of a particular community.

Some of the ways in which we seek to accomplish this include:

• Offering educational assistance to Aboriginals seeking training, scholarship and funding opportunities
• Offering a payments-in-lieu of taxes policy to compensate all Aboriginal communities impacted by Union Gas pipeline expansion
• Undertaking employee training to educate Union Gas employees about Aboriginal issues
• Volunteering our knowledge and time to be a first resource to all Aboriginal communities seeking to develop their communities
