1. How long does it take to have a gas service line and meter installed and ready to use?
To ensure service is received on time, you must place an order 4-6 weeks before you require natural gas on site, and you must ensure that you specify “Con-Heat” on your RFA form. Larger load requirements may need more time in order to build a bigger meter. To guarantee that Union Gas receives the required lead time, it is important to give your gas service a high priority within your construction schedule.

4. What pressure can I receive?
Standard delivery pressure is 7” w.c.; however, you can request up to 10 psig on the RFA. Pressure requirements above 10 psig may be considered but will require Union Gas engineering design approval.

6. What training is required to operate natural gas construction-heat equipment?
Anyone who installs, lights, re-lights, moves or shuts off the natural gas equipment is required to either by a licensed gas technician, or to obtain their natural gas Record-Of-Training (RoT). To obtain a RoT, contact your local Union Gas representative for course dates.

7. Why should I use natural gas instead of propane for my temporary construction-heat needs?
Natural gas is your best choice for construction heat, as you can expect to:

Generally there is no charge for a natural gas line installation. You can confirm this with your local Union Gas representative. The cost for renting natural gas heaters varies with the size of the unit, contact your rental company directly for this information.
