Natural Gas Technologies & Solutions
Institution
The
Institution Segment is very diverse in its make-up, including: Hospitals,
Senior/Nursing/Health Care facilities, Primary & Secondary Schools,
Universities/Colleges, Day Care Centres, Religious Facilities, Museums and
Libraries, Utilities, and many more. The size of the institution can vary as
well, ranging from individual buildings to multi-building facilities. Some
are government owned and operated, while others are privately owned. In all
cases, they represent buildings where a service is offered to the public.
These facilities have many requirements for natural gas equipment. Space heating and water heating are the most common while cooking and laundry equipment can also be a requirement. Some facilities need moisture added to the air (humidification), while others need it removed (dehumidification). Proper Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is a high priority for this segment of the commercial market.
Specific gas fired applications are described below.
Space Heating
In any building, natural gas is the preferred choice to provide space heating because it is more economical and effective than alternative fuels. From furnaces to radiant units to rooftop units to boiler systems to steam heating, natural gas is the ideal way to keep your employees comfortable.

Water Heating
Water heating is a critical requirement for most institutional buildings. Whether for cleaning, laundry, or hygiene, a reliable supply of hot water is a must. Natural gas provides the most economical solutions for all hot water needs.

Cooking
Professional chefs prefer cooking with natural gas because of its instant fire–power and ease of control. The heat arrives instantly and can be controlled from the lowest setting to a roaring flame that sears food to perfection. Professional cooks need the flexibility natural gas provides, which is why the overwhelming majority of commercial kitchens in North America cook with gas.

Laundry
No matter how much laundry is produced, natural gas dryers can handle the load. From towels to linens to sheets and blankets, natural gas dryers are the best option for laundry drying.

Make-Up & Ventilation Air
All buildings that have people in them need the right amount of fresh ventilation air. In addition, institutional kitchens need make-up air to replace the air being exhausted from the kitchen. Natural gas ventilation equipment is designed to give trouble free performance at the lowest possible cost, while ensuring a supply of top quality indoor air.

Humidification and Dehumidification
Some facilities require moisture to be added to the air to ensure the comfort of the residents or visitors, while others need to remove moisture. In either case natural gas equipment is designed to accomplish the task economically and reliably.

Distributed Generation
More and more institutions are becoming aware of the need to be ready if their power is interrupted. Whether it is generating electricity only, combined heat and power, or simply a back-up emergency generator, natural gas equipment is reliable and economical.
