Dear Home Builder/HVAC:

Our Customer Attachment Process (CAPS) has been streamlined to enhance the service we provide to you.

The following meter location policy change became effective June 1, 2009 and includes the following:

1) Meter Location Measurement Provided on Application or Marked on Foundation

- For all residential applications, meter location must be provided on the application or marked in yellow on the dwelling foundation prior to installation. If measurement is provided and the foundation is marked, the mark on the foundation will supersede the measurement provided.

- Measurements provided or foundation marks that are in conflict with required code (at the time of installation) will be moved to a location as close to the original requested location as possible, in order to mitigate clearance issues. Any additional piping and/or changes to relocate the gas service after the original installation are the responsibility of the requestor.

2) Meter Location Not Provided or Not Marked on Foundation

- If measurements are not provided on the application or marked on the foundation at the time of installation, Union Gas will continue to use its preferred meter set location (two metres off the front corner of the dwelling i.e. from the livable portion of the dwelling) and install the service when requested. This way we meet our commitment to you by installing the service when promised rather than leaving the home unserviced while waiting for clarification from you. Any additional piping and/or changes to relocate the gas service after the original installation are the responsibility of the requestor.

Please discard all old forms effective immediately and begin using the new forms that were mailed to you in April 2009.  To download a copy of the new forms click here.
