Grain
Having invested time and money in a year’s crop, it’s important to choose the best and most affordable drying method to ensure continued high quality.
Grain dryers designed to dry corn and beans come in a variety of sizes and require a pressurized gas supply between 2 lbs and 10 lbs. Dryers typically require anywhere from 500,000 BTUs to more than 10 million BTUs depending on the size of the operations.
Since natural gas is widely available in rural Ontario, chances are there already is a gas line serving your road. However, we recommend contacting your local Union Gas office before purchasing drying equipment for your farm. Your local representative can help you determine the best location for your dryer and ensure an adequate supply of natural gas is available for your equipment.
If you already have a grain dryer that runs on propane, it may be possible to convert to natural gas. Contact your manufacturer or supplier to see if an approved conversion kit is available. Then contact your Union Gas representative to determine the availability of natural gas.
