Union Gas' LEED-Gold Designed Facilities
As an energy company committed to environmental
stewardship, Union Gas has recently opened three new LEED
Gold-designed facilities that feature innovative environmental
technologies and applications. LEED, Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design, is the "green building" standard adopted by
the Canada Green Building Council and rates the construction and
design of buildings based on energy efficiency and a number of
environment friendly factors.
Each of the three facilities incorporate a different type of natural gas-fired combined heat and power generation system (CHP) to allow Union Gas to gain experience in a broad range of new technologies. Check out the seven minute video to learn more about the energy efficient, state-of-the-art technologies in each of Union Gas's new facilities.

rain Water Heat Recovery
Water heating is the second highest energy expense for most homes. Up to 90% of that heated water washes straight down the drain. Now you can save up to 60% of that waste water heat by recovering it and using it to pre-heat cold water going into your water heater. A drain water heat recovery unit can pre-heat incoming cold water from about 8°C to about 23°C. That saves energy and saves homeowners up to 40% of their water heating costs. (savings may vary based on usage)
